The Accounting Specialist will play a vital role in supporting the finance and human resources departments by maintaining responsibility for payroll and accounts payable. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, knowledge of wage and hour standards, and a basic understanding of accounting principles. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in a professional environment. Demonstrates strong teamwork skills through cooperation and coordination with other KSF employees. This position may be part-time (25-29 hours per week) or full-time (40 hours per week). Essential Job Functions: Submits bi-weekly payroll by ensuring accurate time records, proper upload and verification of pay calculations, and submittal within payroll processing system. Keeps track of pending employee payments such as expense reports and reimbursements; processes with each payroll batch. Reviews and updates employee payroll records as appropriate, including tax updates, garnishments, discrepancies, and leaves of absence. Verifies system-generated pay data for overtime, double time, meal and rest period premiums, vacation and sick pay. Calculates bonuses and commissions when appropriate. Processes final pay checks for exiting employees. Supports reporting to agencies such as unemployment, payroll tax, employment verifications, and garnishments. Provides operational support by working with supervisors to ensure hours worked are allocated to appropriate job or cost centers. Ensures accurate upload of payroll data to accounting software. Processes accounts payable invoices and ensures accuracy and proper coding. Verifies and reconciles vendor statements and resolves any discrepancies. Prepares and schedules payments in a timely manner. Maintains organized records of accounts payable transactions. Performs accurate data entry for other payroll and accounting projects, and general administrative support as needed. Support month- and year-end closing by ensuring accounts payable data is current and accurate. Provide support during internal and external audits. Other responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree in Accounting or related field is a plus. 3-5 years experience in payroll, and accounts payable or general accounting. Experience with a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Understanding of manufacturing, construction, or industrial operations a plus. Knowledge of: Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices. California wage and hour standards, payroll processes and timekeeping best practices. Effective verbal and written communication skills . Accurate data entry, organizational, and time management skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Maintains strong confidentiality of payroll data. Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle), and payroll systems. Knowledge of Paylocity a plus. Salary Description $22 - $25 per hour
