The Bethel Church Accounting and Finance Manager plays an integral role in the day to day operations of the Finance office. The Accounting Manager leads a team of Contributions, Accounts Payable and General Ledger Accountants, works to develop and maintain accounting principles and best practices, has a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), manages the monthly close process, and supports managers across teams with financial procedures and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Implement processes for collecting, verifying and reporting financial information.

Manage accounting staff and assist with accounting human resource objectives as needed, including:

Recruiting and selecting new team members

Training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplining employees;

Communicating job expectations;

Planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions;

Enforcing policies and procedures.

Achieve accounting operational objectives including:

preparing and completing action plans; implementing a timely monthly close, resolving problems; identifying trends; determining system improvements; completing audits; completing year-end tax filings; implementing and project managing change as needed.

Assist Controller with project tasks like specific budget investigations, financial analysis etc.

Communicate with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data, researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues as needed.

Maintain financial security by ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Avoid legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures when necessary.

Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Update job knowledge by participating in continuing education opportunities.

Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related duties as needed.
Salary Range : $65,000 - $68,000/year

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting

5 + years working in the accounting field

Proficient in US GAAP

Understanding of the Accounting Cycle

Experience with financial reporting requirements

Understanding of Non-Profit ASC a plus

History managing a staff/team

Be able to problem solve and identify solutions.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with monthly close and other accounting software

Attention to detail

Communication and relationship management skills
