ACCOUNTANT

OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTANT ROLE:
- Prepares monthly balance sheets and profit and loss statements
- Prepares month-end journal entries
- Reconciles bank accounts monthly
- Helps manage accounts receivable collections
- Completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable
- Assists in weekly payroll processing
- Assists in responding to employee inquiries regarding pay and resolve any discrepancies
- Responds to unemployment claims and verifications of employment requests
- Time-clock management
- Gathers necessary account information and documents to perform quarterly/annual audits
- Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
- Analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ACCOUNTANT ROLE:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong data entry, analytical and problem solving skills
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and with discretion
- Superior technical/computer skills including Excel and Word
- Proficient with QuickBooks accounting software
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, required
- At least two years of related experience preferred
