This Accountant position is for a vacancy in Executive Administration/Fiscal section and is located in Hammond, Louisiana.Please see the Examples of Work below foradditionalinformation for this position.

This position will be filled as either a probational appointment or a promotional appointment. Applicants may be asked to serve a probationary period that may be anywhere between 6 months and 24 months.

This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as an Accountant 1, 2, or 3, depending on the applicant's level of experience. Please note that there is only one vacancy to be filled.

Salary may be negotiable depending on the chosen applicant's level of experience. Below is a list of the pay range(s) for the position(s):

  • Accountant 1: $16.06/hour minimum - $31.50/hour maximum

  • Accountant 2: $17.18/hour minimum - $33.71/hour maximum

  • Accountant 3: $19.67/hour minimum - $38.59/hour maximum

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting.

SUBSTITUTIONS FOR DEGREE AND TWENTY-FOUR HOURS IN ACCOUNTING:

A certified public accountant (CPA) certificate will substitute for the baccalaureate degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting.

SUBSTITUTIONS FOR DEGREE ONLY

Six years of Full time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree (not the 24 hours in accounting).

Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree (not the 24 hours in accounting) as follows:

A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.

College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years Full time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of Full time work experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Examples of Work

This position is a highly complex position requiring the incumbent to complete multiple complex accounting tasks which require specialized training and knowledge. This position is critical to the overall operations and management of FPHSA. Incumbent must ensure compliance to Federal and State regulations, must be adept on multiple software programs which are directly related to the maintenance of the budget, expenditures/payables, accounts receivable, LaCarte credit card, and the direct purchasing of the supplies/services for the entire FPHSA organization. This position prepares monthly fiscal expenditure/revenue analysis for the agency, prepares monthly grant tracking spreadsheets, maintains records for revenue received in the Fiscal department, reviews and reconciles agency IAT billings and funds receipts. This position also serves as the FPHSA Purchasing Agent and the Agency LaCarte Program Administrator and oversees the purchasing of materials, supplies, equipment, labor/services, and negotiates/executes service agreements, rentals, and leases necessary to provide services to FPHSA, as well as is responsible for the oversight of the LaCarte Program for FPHSA.
