Duties and Responsibilities 1. Serves as academic support officer for the School of Nursing (SON) unit and provides the full range of academic support that involves assisting with academic advising for students in the School of Nursing. 2. Develops, maintains, and retrieves evaluations for data collection and processes the data for analysis. 3. Interfaces with proprietary contracts in order to manage databases and train students. 4. Manages the School of Nursing MOA/MOUS with agencies and preceptors 5. Manages and analyzes benchmarking data for accreditation and reviews with Director and Program Coordinators. 6. Works in conjunction with Graduate Program, Admissions office, and Registrar for admission, retention, and curriculum procedures & issues. 7. Assists in course building through Banner and curriculum central 8. Member of the SON Program Coordinator meetings. 9. Monitors School program information (written and electronic) for consistency and accuracy to be in accordance with UHH and professional organization's policies and strategic plans. 10. Provides advice to students with admissions process and courses throughout their academic journey. 11. Plans DNP informational and recruitment sessions for prospective students. 12. Coordinates DNP welcome banquet and activities during Institutes. 13. Coordinates BSN week of welcome orientation and activities. 14. Support Students with issues that may arise (registration, technology, etc). 15. Participates in review of curriculum and updates in UHH course catalog. 16. Assists SON Director and Program Coordinators with special projects and program reports including those necessary for accreditation. 17. Serves as a member of School of Nursing committees. 18. Creates and implements the student correspondence and DNP records database. 19. Creates surveys and maintains survey data (alumni, employment, DNP graduation, faculty and student). 20. Orders textbooks and faculty desk copies. 21. Manages DNP and Undergraduate Admissions. 22. Processes modifications and manages changes on STAR and Banner. 23. Assists professors with course preparations. 24. Serves as the primary contact for students during the summer and assists the lab coordinator in collecting health documentation. 25. Submits hours for preceptors to Hawaii Preceptor Tax Credit. 26. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education and Professional Work Experience Possession of a baccalaureate degree in any field and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for higher or nursing education; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in higher or nursing education demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology. 2. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with higher or nursing education. 3. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of higher or nursing education. 4. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations. 5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals. 6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software. Desirable Qualifications 1. More than one year of experience working in a higher or nursing education setting. 2. Demonstrated ability to learn and understand specific policies and procedures in an academic setting. 3. Experience with direct student support in higher education. 4. Experience in the process of curriculum central. 5. Experience working on and supporting accreditation and/or program review. 6. Experience obtaining, maintaining, and analyzing survey data. 7. Experience working with Banner, STAR, and/or Kuali. 8.
