Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for the remainder of the 23-24 SY The primary responsibility of the Academic Intervention Specialist is to support academic learning for students at Lake Superior Elementary School. Qualifications: A minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field; Educator licensure issued under Wis. Admin. Code Proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment. Ability to perform the duties of a sensitive and confidential nature. Ability to forge positive relationships with students and their parents/guardians of students. Ability to work collegially with department staff, student services, administration, the faculty, maintenance staff, and community as needed. Ability to facilitate student/parent meetings as needed. The expectations of the position include but are not limited to the following: Small group instruction working with identified students clarifying, redirecting, encouraging students-in class or pull out. Individual pull-out support. Providing one-to-one academic support for students identified as needing tier II or tier III intervention. Facilitate social, academic, and instructional groups, resotative practices, and talking circles as part of the school-wide PBIS programming. Record keeping and documentation: appropriate documentation of interventions, time with each student, duration of interventions (date range), recording all parent contacts. Attend grade level meetings to discuss pertinent student information. Participate in Problem Solving Team meetings. Develop and monitor intervention plan progress. Evaluate effectiveness of interventions. Network and collaborate with community support agencies. Attend and contribute to PBIS team meetings. Make necessary phone calls to parents. Consult with staff members regarding academic plans. Submit a monthly summary report documenting all pertinent information regarding students, interventions and progress.
