Job Summary Job Summary Academic Coaches cultivate consistent, caring, and developmentally supportive relationships with students in a safe learning environment void of judgment and bias. At the same time, Academic Coaches work in tandem with the CXL Team to teach both academic and life success skills, such as but not limited to, social and emotional awareness, organizational efficiency, and study skills. Supporting students individually and collectively to become self-directed learners is also an essential element of the Academic Coach position. View Job Description Requirements / Qualifications Education/Experience High School Diploma required and at least one of the following: BA or AA Degree (preferred) OR Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester units with transcripts provided) OR Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction (CBEST - California Basic Educational Skills Test or Paraprofessional Test) Successful applicants should have: Creative and strategic thinking skills to assist student endeavors. Ability to think quickly and show patience with students. The ability to take initiative in helping students identify academic goals and strategies to reach those goals. Must have current TB clearance and fingerprint screening prior to employment. Please scan and attach the following: Answers to Supplemental Questions (Please explain why you feel you would be a good fit for an Academic Coach position at Steele Canyon High School) Copy of Transcript Resume Comments and Other Information Our Academic Coach Salary Schedule provides for the following increments based on longevity YEAR 1-$20/HR YEAR 2-$20.85/HR YEAR 3-$21.70/HR YEAR 4-$22.55/HR Cougar XL Academic Support- A supportive, academic environment for students transitioning from middle school to Steele Canyon High School and beyond. This course is provided for targeted 9th-12th graders. Students are supported through a blended learning environment working with Academic Coaches who will provide academic support and mentoring within their school day. Students are given assistance in all subject areas in a one on one or small group setting. Candidates pursuing a career in teaching (general education and special education), counseling, or social work are encouraged to apply. Part-time: No more than 28 hours per week Flexible Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30 a.m. - 3:35 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 3:35 p.m. Periodically, Coaches attend staff meetings on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. -Knowledge of all subjects, teaching techniques, and being bilingual are a plus. -Submitting your application does not place you on our Academic Coach list.
